I don't know if it's been clear, but just to let you guys know: the poor guard here has been acting completely on autopilot up until this point. And, um, well, he's actually a pretty big coward when you get right down to it. It's not like he ever had a choice in what he became, y'know? So, soon as the adrenaline and shock wore off a little, escape plans came to mind...
